Shimmy Shake

The Headmistress

The Headmistress

Sexy, sultry, and super boozy! This cocktail is not for the faint of heart with it’s intense smokey aromas and commanding flavors. Bitter, sweet, smokey and slightly citrusy; a perfect drink for a woman in charge. I like to pair this cocktail with food, specifically a big juicy steak… or enjoy with a cigar. Oh, and the red Campari ice cube looks extra sexy in the glass.

1oz Mezcal

1oz Zucca Rabarbaro

1oz Cocchi Vermouth di Torino

1 large Campari ice cube (or two small if you don’t have a large cube tray)

Orange twist

Super simple to make because it’s all equal parts booze! Add Mezcal, Zucca Rabarbao and Vermouth with ice, stir and strain over the Campari ice cube in a rocks glass. Garnish with an orange peel.

To make Campari ice cubes:

Fill bottom of the tray a quarter way with Campari, then fill the rest of the way with hot water and freeze. The hot water is a trick to get crystal clear ice cubes that looks extra gorgeous. Do not use too much Campari or your ice cubes won’t hold shape.

Never heard of these ingredients? Don’t worry they should be available at a decent liquor or wine store!

  • Mezcal has a similar flavor profile to Tequila but often with a smokey background which makes it attractive to Scotch AND Tequila drinkers!
  • Zucca Rabarbaro is a bittersweet Italian Amaro made primarily with Rhubarb and has hints of cardamom and other spices.
  • Cocchi Vermouth di Torino is a sweet vermouth specifically from the town on Torino in Northern Italy. This one has pretty citrus and rhubarb notes with a little tobacco and leather on the palate.
