Tease Tips – Lessons in life, love and the art of tease

By Michelle L’amour

Wit before tit.

Think of all the acts you have seen. I’m sure there are a lot so I’ll give you some time…

Which ones were highlighted in your memory? Most likely they were the acts that possessed ingenuity. Brains AND body.

The thing that I always say in class, is “T&A is the icing on the cake, but first you better make a damn good cake!” Point being, if you want to make a lasting impression on the audience, you need to bring your whole self to the stage. It is not enough to rely on the body alone. That would be like marrying someone because they look good on your arm. While that does happen, it’s not usually a lasting experience.

Acts aren’t good just because you show your boobs, butt, or other body parts. They are good because you showcase your intelligence, humor, and skill. This is what sets your act apart from the asses…oh, I mean the masses.

When I perform, I like to think about how I might surprise the audience, whether it be with a move, concept, music choice, or clever costuming. In an art form that has so much history, it can be challenging to be innovative, especially when you hear that “it’s all been done before.”  I’ve always been out to prove that wrong. Just because it is challenging, doesn’t mean that it can’t be done.

I have never wanted to rely solely on my body because we all know that can change with age. I know that some of the moves I do now are a bit more difficult than they used to be. I can just imagine when I reach legend status what my panther act might look like

It has always been important for me to bring my intelligence to the stage. If the audience applauded for boobies and bootys, they will rise to their feet when you serve up wit with your tit!
